Known problems

Here is a list of known problems and possible solutions:

  • I can only connect with one iPhone to my KNX installation: typical gateways from Siemens or ABB accept only one connection at a time. If you've a Linux server around your house, you can use the eibnetmux daemon. It acts as a multiplexer and allows lots of connections. It also supports user restrictions.
  • I cannot reconnect to the gateway after losing my connection: if your iPhone/iPod e.g. looses WiFi connection, OR KNX can't disconnect properly from the gateway. So if you try to reconnect, the gateway refuses as it has still an open connection running. There's no proper solution for this - either you wait for the gateway to timeout the old connection (might take some minutes) or use the afore mentioned eibnetmux.
  • My EIBlib gateway doesn't work: EIBlib is the older protocol for connecting KNX to ethernet. It is not part of the official KNX standard and OR KNX doesn't support it. This unfortunately means that at least the following hardware cannot be used: ABB IG/S 1.1, b.a.b.tec eibPort, Busch-Jaeger 6186/30, Lingg&Jahnke NK1, Lingg&Jahnke NK2
