This subproject is in the early design stage. The OpenRemote Manager application(s) serve several purposes:
- Allow users browsing of available OpenRemote Controllers and their status, as well as software version and other technical details.
- Allow users to create scenes, edit console profiles, and assign them to an OpenRemote Controller.
The most interesting aspect here is the Building Metadata editor.
We plan an online version of the Manager that allows users to register controllers and edit profiles on OpenRemote.org. This has the advantage of up-to-date access to e.g. the Beehive Database. OpenRemote Controllers are communicating with the OpenRemote.org services to update their software, download profiles, and potentially offer other Internet services in the future.
The offline version of the Manager application is an offline profile editor. This is so far undefined, however, none of the described usecases and features prohibit an offline version to be created later on.
